FACILITATION LEADERSHIP
  • Outcome: We created 4 new principles and identified recommendations to existing experience issues that could be simplified based on the principles to improve user comprehension and trust
  • Expel had various efforts and features being built for AI and a lack of consistency and confusion on how to represent it in the product
  • Hypothesis: Bring a group of stakeholders together to align and create foundational principles to guide continued AI efforts for customer clarity, ease and trust.
  • co-led a design thinking workshop of 17 folks across 6 different departments including product, UX, Product Marketing, Data Science, Detection & Response, Engineering
  • We came out having established 4 main principles for AI and shared across multiple internal departments
Problem
Several existing and potential upcoming AI features that had differing levels of visibility, naming and clarity

  • Primary: Internal teams building AI features
  • Secondary: Security-focused external customers looking to reduce security risk and save time

My Contributions
  • Co-planned and facilitated a human-centered design thinking workshop of 17 cross-functional members
  • Identify main principles and put them into an easily digestible and clear presentation for internal education
  • Identify existing areas of the product that can be simplified using the principles

Workshop Agenda & Artifacts
Impact: This workshop aligned stakeholders across 6 different departments and created 4 new guiding principles for our AI product strategy
To support cross-functional team collaboration, we created a guided workshop board where we could run the workshop and design-thinking activities. The activities we chose allowed for both individual and collective ideation, resulting in successful ideas shared and themes identified that founded our AI principles.
AI Principles Presentation
Impact: Presenting our work allowed for greater alignment with leadership across 6 different departments and gained buy-in for improving our AI approach. We provided education on the principles to leadership and evangelized the outcomes of the workshop to get widespread buy-in and adoption. The following was what we presented to executive leadership and our stakeholder team.
